Donating to charity is an admirable task for anyone to undertake. Some charities require active memberships or participation, while others are simply looking for financial aid. There are many fundraisers that need attention paid to them going on right now. They should be given consideration if you are looking to back a charity in some way in the near future.
An Evening to Conquer Oral Cancer
Every year in Vancouver, Canada, the BC Cancer Foundation hosts an even called An Evening to Conquer Oral Cancer. This event takes place at the Fairmont Hotel, and the cocktail reception starts at 6:30 PM and is followed by a silent auction. Then, dinner will be held at 7:00 PM, which will be followed by a live auction and entertainment. Tickets start at $400.00, and they can be purchased previous to or at the event. The benefits from this event will help doctors and dentist fund further research for oral cancer through the BC Cancer Foundation’s efforts. Oral Cancer is a huge risk to many people, and can often be prevented or caught early by a general dentist exam.
Strength in Our Streets
Strength in Our Streets is an affiliate competition that takes place in Indiana. On June 24, 2017, teams will compete in feats of strength to raise money for Wheeler Mission an Outreach, Inc. The goal of this fundraiser is to help homeless people cope and find ways off the streets. Wheeler Mission and Outreach, Inc. works to help homeless families in central Indiana throughout the year, and not just during the winter or holiday months. They help hundreds of homeless people each year, considering there are over 1,600 homeless people on any given night. Food, shelter, and programs to help these people find jobs and places to live are also a long term focus, so there is activity to remove the homeless from the streets for as long as possible instead of just helping them from one night to another.
