The goal of this fundraiser is to help homeless people cope and find ways off the streets. Wheeler Mission and Outreach, Inc. works to help homeless families in central Indiana throughout the year, and not just during the winter or holiday months. Pet Friendly Events

May 4, 2017 By harveyv

Some of us love our pets so much that we view them like a member of our family. And we want all of our closest family members to celebrate with us on unforgettable occasions — like weddings. But we need to accept the fact that pets are different than humans and therefore the event may need to be planned with extra dog friendly preparation in mind.

Keep in mind what will make for the most pleasing experience for everyone who will attend this celebration. There are some things you can definitely do that will help in this regard. If it is a celebration for you or you are delegated with something that will keep you busy with other things, you will want to make sure your pet is taken care of during the celebration. First, if you are going to be busy during this celebration, designate someone to watch your pet and to keep him or her contained. Second, be sure this person keeps your pet happy by giving him snacks throughout the event.

However, if it is a celebration specifically for your pet, he or she should have all or most of your attention. In this case, you can expect a greater responsibility. There are some great tips on the internet. You find some great ones here. First, when planning a celebration for your pet, you will want to consider all of the little details for putting it in the right place and at the right time of the year. These details also include consideration of other pets who may attend this celebration. There are a couple of details specifically involved in these extra dogs that attend.

First, you will want to make sure that all of these other dogs get along with your dog and that they are dogs that know and get along with each other. This is a very important step for multi-dog parties since if there are any dogs that don’t get along, you are going to have a very chaotic and angst-filled pet party on your hands. It usually is true that you have a better chance at maintaining harmony in a dog party if there are an equal number of male and female dogs. And you may need to personally do some dog training.

Secondly, if you know there are going to be a lot of dogs at your party, it may be best to have it outside during the spring or summer. Some good outside options include beaches, parks, or an obedience and training school. If you do opt to go ahead with an indoor pet celebration, make sure that there is immediate access to outdoor space. Of course, there are annual celebrations—national holidays—that neither one of you is specifically the center. However, each individual holiday will be made to be a pet-friendly event. Costumes for pets are becoming increasingly popular so feel free to have a costume party for virtually any holiday celebration that you want. There are also a lot of decorations for costume parties of all kinds now on the market. Now you just need to get ready for some dog bathing.

Major Event Planning Checklist

Event Themes, Venue Rental and More

Whether you’re planning a catering event, a venue rental or any other great adventure, it’s always important to plan ahead. Prior planning prevents possible failure as a whole. Begin by making a checklist and checking it continually as you plan your next major event.

When planning the event, there are numerous factors that you must ask yourself in consideration: How many people will attend? When and where will the event take place, and will other events happen nearby at the same time? Is there an RSVP list? What are the costs for food, water, other drinks and potential rental expenses? In order to establish a properly coordinated and executed event, you must begin by establishing order; organize yourself if you’re not an organized person, and begin by making lists or checklists of everything that you plan to do as you diligently tackle your duties one at a time.

Notice the difference in that an orderly lifestyle will make. Also, carry a notebook and a pen with you wherever you go in case you come up with ideas on the spot. Some of our best ideas may come to us when we least expect, so be prepared. You must also account for factors such as parking costs and fire or safety hazards. If you plan to order catering, it’s always a good idea to reserve days ahead of time and to have the delivery arrive before the event commences to account for potential unexpected occurrences or emergencies.

Also, order a bit more than you expect to consume through each attendee. For example, if approximately 150 people plan to attend the event, then order sufficient food for everyone to be satisfied. It’s better to have too much than to lack at times, and in this case, it’s the perfect scenario for abundance. Check in or near the outside of the building, the rental time allotted, the general safety and culture of the surrounding community where the event will be held, the party that you’ll be renting from or to and more.

Never fail to consider the potential damage that unexpected occurrences may bring by planning ahead of time. Plan and prepare for all emergencies, and brainstorm what those possible emergencies might be. Will people need to use the exit doors for any reason? Will someone need to enter or leave unexpectedly? Will outside noises be easily heard and cause a distraction?

You may also wish to take a brief tour of the building and test all entrance and exit doors, also ensuring that sufficient fire extinguishers are in place and spread throughout the building. Ensure that you have enough helpers with you – qualified staff — as well as emergency backup numbers of your caterers and potential co-workers. The best way to make an exhaustive checklist of all potential factors is to divide it into sections, including a safety and health precautionary section, a food and catering section, an attendance RSVP section and more.
